Here are the top dog-friendly trails in Hunstville!
North Plateau Loop
This loop located in Monte Sano State Park is considered easy to complete. It is two miles long with only 104 feet of elevation gain, taking about 40 minutes to complete. You will probably encounter people on the trail hiking, mountain biking, and bird watching as you explore the beautiful views this trail has to offer.
Mountain Mist Loop
This moderate trail also located in Monte Sano State Park is 6.4 miles long and takes an average of 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete. You’ll get a good workout in as you gain 419 feet with your pooch who is allowed to be off-leash in some areas of this park!
Sinks and North Plateau Loop
Another of Monte Sano’s best trails, this loop is 2.2 miles long with almost 400 feet of elevation gain! It takes just over an hour to complete and is popular with mountain bikers and bird watchers. The views from the top of this trail are hard to beat so you and Fido will have a great time exploring.
Fanning Trail
Located at Blevin’s Gap Nature Preserve, this out-and-back style trail is 3.8 miles long and takes a little under 2 hours to complete. Come prepared to climb as this trail boasts 738 feet of elevation gain. This trail is popular for bird watching and running, and your pup will enjoy running off leash at some areas of the nature preserve!
Cold Spring, McKay, and High Trail Loop
This trail is no joke at 7.5 miles and with an astounding 1,082 feet of elevation gain! You will get a great workout in during the roughly 3 hours and 15 minutes this trail takes to complete. Your furry friend will enjoy exploring the unique scenery this trail has to offer while off-leash in some areas of the trail!
